Summer Ramblings & Repeat Sundays

Helloooo my honey bunches of oats!

I really do not know what to write about. I'm just kind of overly excited...or overly anxious for the fact that the month of July is dwindling down to an end. And in a few weeks I will be back to work...back to being an adult...blah. Can I just plant my quarters on the ground and just grow a money tree? I promise to water it with all my love and attention while I sit on my towel with my toes in the sand. Sigh...I guess...that's just a dream.

What happens when I think
of the end of summer :-P
In order to lower the anxiety that "back to school" is causing,    I'm doing 3-3-6 breathing exercises....breathe in for 3, hold for 3, exhale for 6. Try it 10 times and see if it works for you. Maybe I'll expand on this in the future.

I had a few plans on the things I wanted to do this summer, but the only thing I got around doing is blogging...apparently it took over my reading and going to the gym. Heck, at least I got to vent a little...or did I? I kid, I did manage to read one book and well, I started working on the Insanity workouts. It's my second attempt at it this summer, but dude, my butt has got to fit back in my jeans! These hips really do not lie! Did I mention that Insanity is really insane? Like I used to be very active and run almost daily, but this is really I'm-about-to-throw-up intense! I am going to try my utmost best to keep up with it...to do it daily (duh, that's what the program is). So today, as soon as I get up from my bed, I will move the furniture (yes, that's a minor setback in my motivation) and begin day 4...or is it day 5?  guhhhh...bring on the sore muscles!

What's on your mind lately? Have you completed all of your summer projects?

And here is this week's Repeat Sundays! I've been playing this one over and over this week!

Olympic Spirit

oh...Ryan Lochte...Ok so I could start another post about another hot guy...I mean who doesn't like to see an Adonis in the water. Oh sorry was that you...ha! No worries, if you tune into the tube now, you can probably catch the swimming competition...oh so hot! and did I mention he is Florida Gator (Go Orange & Blue!)

But really, the reason why I started this post was to tell you a little about how the Olympics always brings out the pride of the athlete in me. As a youngster in Peru, my school had their own annual Olympics, where instead of countries, different classes and grades were separated as teams and united in colors. And I was lucky enough to be part of my grade's team of athletes. My school had an awesome parade for the opening and closing ceremonies; oh yes and the presentation of medals as well!

1st grade in yellow, Kindergarten in orange,
and receiving my medals in 3rd grade in green. :)

Thinking back, I was pretty involved...basketball, volleyball, long jump, 400meter relay, and 100meter dash.  I was one of the 3 fastest girls in a class of 90-something students. I have no idea why I didn't follow through in sports when I moved to the U.S. I guess because PE was optional or because I was so focused in learning English and fitting in. Eh...either way, I still think I can run fast, if I had to run away from a vampire I could do it for a block or so. After that, I would just be dinner....ha!

The first Olympic Games that I remember is Seoul 1988. Is it crazy that I still remember the little tiger that was their mascot? You wouldn't think my memory was that sharp if you met me today. ha! I remember watching the Peruvian volleyball team winning the silver medal and hoping that someday I could do the same. Well...fast forward to today, I don't play sports and my forearms turn all sorts of colors when they dig for a volleyball. Basketball? Forget it, I am so uncoordinated. Lucky for me, DH makes up in our combined basketball skills.

This year, I cheer for my birth country and my home country. Either way, it'll be fun watching track & field, volleyball, and my favorite...gymnastics!

GET IN THE SPIRIT!
What is your favorite Olympic sport? Which country do you represent?

Eyes for Bale

My heart goes out to the victims and their families in Aurora, Colorado. I cannot possibly imagine the pain the town is experiencing. Just having watched a midnight showing of Batman that same night and actually noticing that we had a cop in our theatre, it was just so eerie to me. I am now thankful for their presence. Today, Christian Bale the star of Batman provided a little light and a glimmer of hope in Aurora. He visited one of the hospitals that is caring for the victims and also visited the memorial near the movie theatre. You can read more about it here.

I have followed Mr. Christian Bale for the last 20 years...so yeah I may be dating myself when I say since 1992, ever since Newsies! I have also kept this picture of him in my wallet for just about that long...ha! Since he was not such a popular actor then, people would ask me who he was...and I'd giggle and say that he is my boyfriend. Bale also had an internet cult following who called themselves Baleheads. I was one of them :)

You can just imagine how proud and excited I was when he was cast as Bruce Wayne in Christopher Nolan's Batman series! You see, he was the first fan club I ever joined, ha!
So now that I've shared a little bit about my obsession with him...I will now leave you with some eye candy. Please enjoy my favorite pictures of Mr. Bale.

...off the Florida Keys

I have to say that although my new job is a bit on the "stressful" side, it has its perks! Lucky for me I have a handful of friends who also share in the same field or enjoy getting away for the day and for the weekend.

Last week, my teacher friends and I decided to take an impromptu trip to the Tiki Bar in Islamorada (Holiday Isle) near the Middle Keys. We were surprised by the fact that this was no longer a "public beach" rather, it became a beach/pool for hotel guests only. We managed to avoid the hotel staff long enough to drink some delicious Rum Runners...and oh boy, was the water perfect. Our peaceful day continued in Key Largo, we did not avoid the hotel staff for too long, so we found another bar with an adjacent pool. And oh...and the weather, the sun, the breeze...was so perfect. Just as late afternoon hit, we saw the thunderclouds approaching and we swiftly grabbed our bags and headed back home. I may have been a little quite tipsy by that time. Hahaa!

The boys holding on to their hats. Not a cloud in the sky meant top down!
Doesn't the pool look refreshing? Oh, and the drinks were perfect to cool us off too!
We fell in love with Rum Runners

My friend Ally invited to come along on a girls' weekend trip to Key West. I could not say no. So off we left to our little Kokomo. Once we arrived, the sun was brightly shining on us and on the way to the pool, we found a few (yes a few) little green friends! After a nap, we geared up to dance the night away.

Look carefully! Iguanas and lizards galore!
These girls were so much fun to hang out with, the right amount of crazy and loud...you could say.  It was also Hemingway's 113th birthday and there were countless of look-a-likes in the streets. We spent the night at Rick's bar and we apparently had two DJ's...the real DJ and some random wasted dude just playing Air DJ all night long. He switched up the music, looked through his imaginary inventory, and pretended to talk to the crowd while the real DJ did it...I swear!...all night long! And of course it isn't Florida without a little rain hurricane of a storm. That didn't stop the party people, they just moved the party to the decks to dance in the rain!

Girls' Weekend!

He played air DJ all night long!
Day two was spent eating some grub, walking, and doing a little sightseeing from one end of Duval street to the the other. Key West is definitely a place to relax, enjoy some fun, and if you are apt for it, bar crawl on Duval Street under the night sky.

Delicious breakfast!
Kiss my a$$!

Reading up on Key West history near the Pier.
I'm on a boat!
I feel so lucky. I don't have to go far from home to enjoy a little paradise.
What are some hidden fun and relaxing gems near your hometown?

Repeat Sundays: A Little Dangerous!

One of my summer fun trips was spent guessing songs from the 80s and 90s.
Somehow this song just got stuck on me and yes...I kept pressing repeat!

Let's go back to 1989 when a little Swedish duo was at the top of the pop charts!!

Roxette...they know she's a little bit "Dangerous"!

Sweet Kisses

Kissing-and I mean like, yummy, smacking kissing - is the most delicious, most beautiful and passionate thing that two people can do, bar none. Better than sex, hands down. ~Drew Barrymore

'Twas not my lips you kissed
But my soul
~Judy Garland

Stolen Kisses are always sweetest ~Leigh Hunt

If ever you think of me out of the blue, just remember it's all the kisses I've blown in the air finally catching up with you! ~Unknown

Kissing is like drinking salted water. You drink, and your thirst increases.
~Chinese Proverb

A man had given all other bliss,
And all his worldly worth for this,
To waste his whole heart in one kiss
Upon her perfect lips.

Fun times in NYC

Hello there!
This should be an old post, however I figured I should share these with you since I took the pictures and all :)  I went to visit New York and Brooklyn back in May 2010. It was so great to be able to do so many things since my previous visits in 2005.
We were able to get together with family we had not seen in years and we visited so many fun places from Magnolia Bakery (famous from Sex and the City), Yankee Stadium, Brooklyn and Coney Island. I always enjoy going to New York. I love that everything is walking distance or a subway ride away.
I need to go back so I can watch Newsies on Broadway!

What is your favorite thing to do/visit when you are in NYC?

I had to have my cupcakes!
Oh yeah, and my picture by the window too!
