Coffee Talk 11 - Be Thankful for Libations

Today is THANKSGIVING DAY!!!

I hope everyone is enjoying some good food and good times with family and friends today!

I am thankful for having YOU...all my bloggy friends in my life.
I am thankful because today I ran a 5K and didn't puke nor pass out.
I am thankful because I am learning my way around my tiny kitchen.
I am thankful because the sun is shining and the weather is absolutely amazing!
I am thankful because today I will enjoy libations to enjoy my family a little better!
I am thankful because you are still reading this, ha!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my lovelies who celebrate today!

Now it's time for the weekly Coffee Talk with Natalie Blair from ohemgee...the blog

1. What is your favorite drink called? What are the ingredients in it?
I have several favorite drinks...but my go to is Captain Morgan and Diet Coke!
Patron's Coffee Liquor is super delicious as a shot, but make sure its chilled!

via

via

2. How old were you when you first got drunk?
Grandpa used to always let us "taste" his after dinner liquors so I was not drunk as a child...but my first time was in Cancun at 16 with my BFF Zulia. Thing is, Zulia's family owned a few bars in Cancun...guess where I was when I was not beaching it out?

As a matter of fact, I remember having a few of these...
via

3. Name an embarrassing moment about you or your friends that occurred while drinking.
I've had way too many. But I remember in college I ran away from my circle of friends, screaming bloody murder in the streets...lol
Liquid courage did help me get into the VIP section and chat up with the members of a certain band's party at a club [you didn't hear that from me].

Do you recognize this blue-eyed cutie?

4. What is your favorite party drinking game?
Flip Cup all the way!

via

5. Are you a happy drunk? Sad drunk? Sleepy drunk? Paranoid drunk? or other?
I'd say I'm a sleepy drunk! And when I'm not sleepy drunk, I'm courageous drunk!

Celebrating [one of] my last single girl night out.

6. Are you a hard drinker (straight liquor, shots, etc.)? Fruity drinker (daiquiris, mixers, etc)? not a drinker at all? or Other?
Hmmm...I guess I'd say I'm a hard drinker. I like my shots (tequila, vodka), whiskey and sprite, and even vodka soda.
I used to enjoy the fruity drinks, but that's just wasting your calories away!

Vodka soda has very few calories...
Get it over with and just get drunk I say!

and now....it's baking time!!!

Stitch Fix - Part Deux

A few weeks ago, a beautiful package came in the mail!
It was my Stitch Fix package #2!!

I waited a little to get a new package because I was hoping to have a little more money in my pocket and less poundage in my rear...

What is Stitch Fix? Well, read on it by clicking [here].
You want to give it try you say? Make sure you do so using [this link].

What you will see next are pictures taken by yours truly and also by hubby dearest. Despite my attempts to instruct him on effective non-blurry pics techniques, he, how should I say this, sucked tried his best.

Below I am sporting the two items I kept from my most recent Stitch Fix shipment.
Can you tell what my favorite color is?

I immediately fell for this Everly Makee Shortsleeve Layered Dress.
I felt very dressed up as I went to a baby shower here.
Cool thing is that I can also dress it down with some black leggings and flats!
!

This super soft and criss-crossed sweater is by YA. I've received lots of compliments when I wear this sweater.
Below is their Chiron Twist Front Drape Sweater. It's perfect to keep you warm when there's a slight breeze during those "cool" Miami nights.

Below are the other items that came in my second Stitch Fix shipment.

I actually really liked the Leaf Drop Earrings by Marlyn Schiff. I would've kept them, however, a piece of them broke off.
They retailed for $25.00

This cute heather gray top by Mystree was super cute!
However, it was priced at around $75!!!! A little too much for a long sleeve tee.

This cute black button down by Everly was sent to me because it was definitely one that I'd venture to wear, but only if I had the right combination of clothes.

Stitch Fix does ask you: "How likely are you willing to wear a different style?"
My guess is that this was the "different style".

All in all, I was VERY happy with my second shipment since I was able to fit in all items and ended up purchasing 2 out of 5 items!

Repeat Sunday - Plumb

It has been a little while since I've added the song(s)
currently on repeat in my iPod.

Sometime ago I heard Blush (Only You) by the group Plumb. This song tears at my heart because it is that much romantical...(yes, that's a word in my dictionary).
Although I am not a Twihard, I thought this was the best video for the song :) Enjoy

I first heard of Plumb when I watched the movie Brokedown Palace and the song then was Damaged...

There are no actual music videos for these songs, so you get these interesting clips made by other youtubers...

Enjoy!!

Holiday Baking Time is Here!

I love the Ho-HO-HOlidays!!!
I do, I really do!
I just hate that it comes so fast and the stores push Christmas down your throat and its not even mid-October yet!

via
via

So...now, why I love the holidays...oh yeah,
because I become Betty effing Crocker!
Well, kind of. You see, I HATE cooking!
Ok, I lie, I wish I liked to cook, however, I suck so therefore, I hate it!

via

On the other hand, I LOVE baking!!
I'm not the best, but the exact science of the baking process....
THAT I can definitely do!

via

This weekend, I will be faced with my first challenge, Coffee Cake and Red Velvet Cake and Cupcakes...all from scratch
[except for the frosting, but that doesn't count].

via

My next project will most likely be cookies...not just any cookies though, they are Peruvian cookies called Alfajores, and they are made out of cornstarch, butter, and Dulce de Leche.

via

I really can't wait to make these! My friends actually set up baking dates with me, because these are pain to make but so delicious to eat!

I will share these recipes with you, I PROMISE!
Just stay tuned, I will make sure to do my homework and document the process!

And I'm part of this Blog Hop this week so link up...

Coffee Talk 10 - Pet Peeves and Loves

I guess its time for another installment of Coffee Talk with Natalie from ohemgee... the blog

Grab a cup, sip it hot, and exhale...and laugh [ok, maybe]

1. What is your worst habit?
My worst habit has to be overthinking things and picking at my skin...I know...I know. I'm just an uber anxious being! And since I'm always pondering and overthinking things, it makes for great time...not!

2. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Chewing with your mouth open. Bad spellers and bad grammar...use the spellchecker!

3. What is annoying you right this very minute?
The fact that I don't know what to make for dinner and hubby dearest took the day off to play on his Xbox [He also took a friend to the ER, but that's beside the point!]

4. How do you relieve stress?
I love dancing...dancing is my stress relief. Exercise is as well, however, I haven't gotten much of that in a while! Oh...and opening a bottle of wine. Which I will do right...about....now....

via

5. What TRULY makes you happy?
Happy? Happiness is a state of mind...My hubby makes me happy. Going to the beach makes me happy. Being one with the world makes me happy.

Did you locate the inner yogi in me? Let me know if you find it!

Influenster Beauty VoxBox Review

My Influenster Beauty VoxBox has been here for a little while. Thing is, I've been busy using all of the products and I'm sooooo excited because I just may have my favorites!

Just as a quick FYI: I was not compensated in any way to do write these reviews. Although these products were sent to me complimentary, these reviews are my honest, unbiased, and crazy opinions of the products.

My first go-to item was the great smelling Bath & Body Works Mini Candle in Pumpkin Cupcake ($3.50). That little candle sure packed a punch and lasted for several hours despite its tiny size! I was super excited to have my apartment smell like fall! You get everything from the smell of pumpkins, cinnamon, and a little bit of buttercream to remind you of those yummy cupcakes! But, just in case, if you didn't know it already, I love fall!

My favorite product and the one I use daily, is Not Your Mother's Smooth Moves Frizz Control Hair Cream ($6.00). A very small dollop of this cream after towel drying my hair and I'm ready for my blow dry. Once I'm finished, my hair just looks and feels awesome! And it's true what it says, no more frizzy hair!!! I will definitely be purchasing this product before my sample tube is gone! Just remember: a little goes a long way. Too much product can make your hair oily, so only apply a small dollop on the tips of your hair.

Next up is the oh so cool looking Goody Simple Styles Spin Pin
At $7.29 it's a great buy! I love my long hair, however, I also love having it away from my face. These little gadgets are easy to put on and give you a nice polished look. Even if your hair is a bit unruly, you can put these on for a nice tight or cute lose "put together" bun. The box even comes with some chic ideas to create the perfect bun!

My new eyeshadow set from N.Y.C.'s Individual Eyes Custom Compact ($4.99), is a great set that helps accentuate the color of your eyes. I of course received the brown eyes suggested combo. It comes with 4 different shades: all over color, highlighter, and two brow/over the lid colors. It even includes a primer and an illuminator cream to accentuate your look. For the amateur make up artist (aka, me), the instructions were fairly easy to follow, although the order suggested to wear/put on these colors, may not follow along the step by step process indicated on the palette.

Top: Right eye Falsies Mascara, Left Eye NYC Eyeshadows only
Bottom: NYC Eyeshadows and Kiss Pro Lashes at work!

I have also played with my new set of Kiss Ever Pro Lashes Starter Kit ($5.99)and what can I tell you, they are so much fun! They are definitely a set to wear on a day when you want to get attention or when you are out on the town. My little lids are a pain on the butt, however I managed to follow the instructions and with some patience, they were placed and adjusted correctly. PS-they come with a little wand that assists in the application the process.

I tested these babies on Halloween...so much fun!

I also had a packet of Orange E-BOOST ($28 for a box of 20), which is a fizzy powder drink that is full of vitamins. I honestly thought it was only a vitamin powder (like Emergen-C) for when one feels a little sick...although I'm sure it is, it also woke me up completely! I was feeling sluggish on a dancing disco night, but after taking a cupful of Orange E-Boost on a night when I felt too sleepy to go out, my mood and my energy shot upwards! Although the taste wasn't the best, I partied hard that night and was able to stay up even through the car ride home--and this my friends, is no easy feat for me.

Did I convince you to buy one? Two?
How about three?! heehee...GO GET THEM!!

Chipped Polish Fix!

My lovely and sweet friend Gabriella from Love.From.Londres. just blogged about how to get an amazing quick fix for that manicure that has started to chip at the tip!

[In my best high school girl voice:]
This is literally, THE best idea ever invented...EVER!

I am super lazy and clumsy, therefore having to remove and reapply a full coat of polish requires tons of patience as I sit and wait for the manicure to dry.
Of course, the following ensues: I get hungry, I get the urge to pee, my phone rings, I graze my couch with my nails....Yup, never a dull moment...

This was super quick and all I needed was less than 10 minutes and 1 shot of Patron Orange Citroen in between coats!

So this is what Gabriella's got to say to fix your mani:

Because of the amazing texture achieved with glitter/shimmer polishes, you can cover up chips, dents and cracks very easily with out anyone suspecting a thing, it looks pretty darn cute too!

3 easy steps:

1. mask off the area of nail you want, I chose a simple french tips style but you could be more adventurous with stensils.

2. apply 1-2 coats of the glitter/shimmer polish.

3. peel back the masking tape and apply a top coat, I used Sally Hansen Advanced Hard as Nails.

**Since I lack patience, I used Essie's Good to Go Top Coat.
It is awesome and dries in seconds!!**
